International workers and partners 

For international workers and partners it is important to seperate between having a D - number and a National Identity Number. Workers with D-number does not necessarily have the right to a General Practitioner (GP) or Family Doctor, because they are considered guests in Norway. Here are some temporary solutions for those who need it. 

Rana Local Medical Center

If you do not have a GP or Family Doctor in Rana municipality, then you can use Rana Local Medical Center. This is a medical center which gives you temporary healthcare services during daytime in Rana municipality.

Emergency Room

If you have emergency situations like life threatening health situations not during daytime contact the Emergency Room in Rana municipality. It is located in the city area of Selfors at Helgelandssykehuset in Mo i Rana. 

Family

Children under the age of 16 years old have the right to the same General Practitioner (GP) as their parents or guardians in terms of Family Doctor, in which they are entitled to free healthcare services. After they turn 16 years old they have the right to their own General Practitioner (GP). Children between the age of 0 to 5 years old can use the Health Center Service together with their family members for free in Rana municipality. Youths between the age of 13 to 24 years old can use the Youth Health Center (HFU) in Rana municipality.

Pregnancy 

Pregnancy and birth services are free in Norway. The midwife service is free and voluntary for inhabitants in Rana municipality. Otherwise contact your local GP or Family Doctor, or be referred to Rana Local Medical Center.

Children receive free dentist healthcare through the public dentist service in Norway.  Most adults have to pay out of their own pocket for dentist healthcare in the private and public dentist service in Norway.
